Green It, Like You Mean It!
Join the Baltimore Book Festival’s green efforts by participating in environmentally and ecologically friendly activities at the festival. Green activities include (but are not limited to): recycling, riding a bike and taking public transportation.

Recycling/Trash
  • Yellow festival recycling bins and regular trash cans are dispersed throughout the festival site and around each food area.
  • Festival-goers, exhibitors, staff and crew are encouraged to recycle whenever possible.
Food Vendors & Exhibitors
  • Baltimore Book Festival’s food vendors and beverage service are advised to use recyclable and compostable service ware.
  • Healthy menu items, such as salads and wraps, will be available to festival-goers as alternatives to traditional festival fare.
  • All exhibitors are encouraged to offer recyclable bags for guest merchandise and limit waste whenever possible.
Bike Parking Zone
  • Bike parking returns, giving bicycle riders a secure place to leave their bikes while exploring the festival. The Bike Parking Zone can accommodate more than 50 bikes at a time.
  • Location: Charles Street (north of center – on the west side).
Festival Communication & Program
Other Initiatives
  • The Baltimore Book Festival reuses signage, décor and props whenever possible.
  • The use of public transportation is promoted as the best way to get to the festival.
  • The festival is paperless whenever possible, i.e. emailing authors’ guidelines, confirmations, etc.
  • The City’s Office of Recycling has a presence at the festival to promote to all festival-goers.
  • The festival works closely with festival neighbors to ensure a proper clean-up post festival.
