Alia Malek is an award-winning journalist and civil rights lawyer. She is the author of A Country Called Amreeka and editor of Patriot Acts and EUROPA. Her reporting has appeared in the New York Times, Foreign Policy, The Nation, Christian Science Monitor, and more.

Susan Muaddi Darraj is Associate Professor of English at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland, and a Lecturer in the Johns Hopkins University’s MA in Writing program. Her short story collection, A Curious Land: Stories from Home, was named the winner of the AWP Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction, judged by Jaime Manrique, and published in December 2015. Her previous short story collection, The Inheritance of Exile, was published in 2007 by University of Notre Dame Press.
